Trumpeter Cabernet Sauvignon 2000
Winemaker Notes
The 2000 growing season offered ideal conditions for the cultivation of rich, concentrated fruit in the high altitude wine country of Mendoza.
A long, moderate summer coupled with a mild harvest season combined to
allow the grapes to ripen gradually reaching their optimum level of
maturity.
The organically poor soil in this 22 year old vineyard restricts vine vigor keeping yields low. The warm and dry summer weather allowed for late picking of very concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with flavors of black cherry and plum with traces of spice and ripe, mature tannins.
The 1999 Trumpeter Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense ruby-red color with some dark, violet tones. The nose offers concentrated red fruit aromas interlaced with notes of tobacco and chocolate. In the mouth it feels full yet soft, presenting ripe plum and black cherry fruit flavors with traces of vanilla, and finishing with soft, sweet tannins.
